The Virtual Science Hub (ViSH) is a collaborative content repository where scientists and teachers will be able to exchange and establish collaborations

It includes a virtual excursion room, where pupils will be able to experience real e-science applications in areas of high relevance for the future, such as nano- and biotechnologies.

The ViSH is the first content-oriented network build with Social Stream. It demostrates Social Stream’s power and flexibility for creating social network websites.

Compared to Social Stream’s demo site, which has a Google+ relation model, the ViSH has the same Twitter follow model.

Besides, the ViSH main content in the social network are virtual excursion. A demonstration of the flexibility of Social Stream for developing new social media.

Most of the functionality has been reused, such as authentication, profiles, avatar upload, private messages and notifications.

The ViSH has been developed in the context of Global Excursion, an EU-founded project. The code is available at github.
